Default Block casting number

Can anyone help my identify this block? D2AE-2F24
I've figure out it's a 1972 Ford Engine but I can't figure out how to decode the second half.

Ok, let me rephrase. Can anyone tell me what the part number 2f24 references? Thanks.

According to these sites, the 2*** part numbers are brake parts. Engines are 6***.

It's really hard to tell though. Ford did not keep great records of this stuff.

You need to find someone with a parts book. Possibly a shop near you? Or a dealership?

Ok, someone at another site looked it up (at the time I thought the number was D0AE-2F24) and it came back as a 351c with a 2 bolt main. The date is actually D2AE. I assume the part number doesn't change from year to year but I thought I'd ask. Not sure if a small change (for example, going from a 2 bolt main to a 4 bolt main) would change the part number.

0-2 with the dealerships. Said the part number is too old for them to look it up.

I believe there are a few people on here with the old parts books, one might chime in soon.

Ok, I'm confused. Is this number off an engine block or a part? My guess is that 2F24 is just the date code ie: 1972 June, 22.
