Then it should be the date code, the part number for engine blocks is something like 6015.

I'm with reaver117 here. weird alright. where did you get the numbers from exactly? the engine code should be where the starter bolts up.
Engine block is part 6015 alright, so the code should be something of the format:
D2AE-6015-xx
Which makes it a 72model engine then (could be later). but the 2nd number you posted looks very much like a date code like he already said

Yeah, I believe you're right. It was D2AE-CA.
