im wondering if i could stroke my 289 to a 331. from what ive heard, the blocks are the same as a 302 and the earlier blocks i know are stronger. any reason to why i couldnt?
If your going to do a stroker use a new 5.0 block so you can have a roller cam. Crane makes a conversion cam for early small blocks but if your doing that much just get a newer block.

i dont have the money for a newer block and i could really care less as to what kind of cam i have to run... plus i could use a conversion kit if i wanted to
A 331 is best for reliability due to a smaller bore, keeping the cylinder walls thicker. Also a 331 has a shorter stroke, less chance of something going haywire.
