Hood Pins
I had to have pins in mine, as I have no hood latch in the flimsy *** fiberglass hood. I like it thought that way.
I sense a little hostility. Ouch. We need a boxing section where matters can be hashed out one on one. Then, when everyone is happy, they can rejoin the rest of us.

You chronically direct inflammatory posts at people here under the guise of kidding around, and now it's my turn. Guess what? I don't like it. I'll ask you only this one time publicly to please cut it out.

that looks great Carlos, I like the idea of the functional scoop. and as many others have said, the hood pins do serve a purpose in case your hood latch fails, i've heard terrible stories of the hood flying back, wrecking the roof, windshield, fender aprons, and of course the hood.
I measured ½" from the scoop's 8 bolt holes, and left room in front for a 8" air cleaner. At the time, I had a low rise intake so it didn't matter. In the back, 69s already have access holes for the turn sig directionals in the scoop.

The 69 hood has factory cutouts for the hood pin bezels that line up with the rad crossmember, but measure and drill on the top of the hood to insure accuracy. If you're off by a cm it will stick out like a crooked picture on the wall and bug you forever.

PS Thanks for the comments, everybody. I put this thread up because I couldn't find a hood pin thread for 69.

Is that a hood tach in the last picture? I've been looking at mounting a Firebird hood tach cause I don't want to clutter the instrument panel. Side note, I actually put a small lock on each of my hood pins so I don't have to worry about my car getting hot wired.
They sell round key hood locks that came out in the early 70s and fit in the same place as the pins. I would eventually scratch up the hood with keys and like the pins anyway.

They serve a tremendous purpose. They validate that you own an American made classic beast of a machine. The hood locks tell everyone that the engine is so violent, that it has to be locked up.
Bottom line, hood locks are the official seperation mark between times when cars were teeth filling loosening rockets and climate controlled navigation transports. The hood locks are required.

Carlos the hood pins are great and the engine bay is detailed very nicely. Great job!
