Default How do I get the wiper bases off

Last piece to get off before the paint shop picks it up Tuesday. I've got the wiper arms off but how do I get the chrome bases off the cowl?

you'll notice a tab under the wiper chrome base. That tab clips under the wiper shaft.

Put a piece of cardboard under the tab against the cowl (to protect the paint) and use a large screw driver to pry the tab out of the way and at the same time put pressure in the vertical direction on the wiper arm. It will slide off the knurled shaft with some effort.

Masking tape?

Well, these are getting taped off. I am at the point I may damage them if I try any more. I'll ask the shop when they take the car if they can get them off.

I tried to figure that out on my 65 too, never could. If your paint shop knows or you figure it out please let us know.

you have to go under the dash......ALL THE WAY UNDER!! and i believe there's 3 bolts for each one (3/8 or 7/16 if i remember right). i would just pull 'em out enough to mask but don't remove them totally because they are attached to the arms of the motor and that's a real pita to take out past all the defroster hoses and everything.
