Default 351 efi

I have a '69 with a factory 351 that I would like to convert to efi. Can I use a complete unit from an '88 up F-150, bronco, or explorer with the 5.8L ? Can I use a complete unit from an '88-91 HO 5.0L mustang and buy the correct intake bottom to fit the 351? I think the HO has the same firing order as the 351. I know there are more things to do such as the high pressure fuel pump, return system.
Thanks
Rick

The HO has the sime firing order as the 351, but you'd prolly need to retune it. The computer and MAF sensor are calibrated for a 302, not a 351. But I'm sure you could do it.

If you have the bones, you might want to look at Edelbrock's new Pro Flo 2 EFI setup, they've recently gone to a more power ECM with nearly unlimited tunability, and they're coming out with an Pro Flo XT soon, which I think is supposed to be an even more powerful version, but I haven't heard or seen anything solid.

Otherwise yeah, you could get like a truck 5.8 EFI setup. The only think that bugs me about the factory type EFI setup on the 351 is the very limited selection of manifolds on the market.

You can use a ECU from mustang(302) on a 351 without any problems. The MASS air floww meter will compensate for the engine, I have put a couple on 351's and worked fine. Only trick is to match the MAF meter to the size injectors, so a stock MAF will be matched to 19 lbs injectors (orange colored). Depending how extreme your build is, spend the money and have it tuned at most Mustang speed shops, if it's a mild build, you'll be fine. As for intakes, any intake you can find will be offered with a 302 or 351 lower...

It's a different engine, and still needs to be tuned. Just like modding a 5.0, to get optimum performance you need to tune it correctly. Computers aren't magic, they operate by producing output based on certain given variable input and other known inputs. You change those input values and it changes the output values as well. Despite what people think, MAF sensors do NOT always accurately measure airflow and tune everything to be optimum.

Ford used the same ecu on a 302 and 351.The two ecu was only different between which tranny it had.

you can easily add larger injectors 24lb and a larger MAF sensor from someone like C+L and it will easily run the 351

No expert, but isn't the truck intake taller? Would it fit under the mustang hood?

Answer.. Cowl Hood, or possibly adjustable motor mounts
