351 efi
thanks guys. i am switching from a carbureted 302, so i have no prior knowledge or experience with the EFI setup. i already have the 351 ready to be worked on. adjustable motor mounts?

IMO, the easiset EFI system out there is the Power-Jection III from Retrotek. It's almost as simple as changing a carb. $1,700 including the fuel system.
Wayne Presley is a dealer, and has some pretty good things to say about it.

no it will not, besides the drop mounts you will have to mill the upper and lower intake, and it will be close the best route is use a torker 2 intake drilled for injectors and a power elbow which mounts the throttlebody to the intake in the stock location and you might still need the drop mounts, the stock ford truck efi is not a performance unit AND it is speed density and you will mant a MAF system. The easiest and cheapest by far is the powerjection3 or powerjection plus with ignition control or the fast ez-efi and either one will give you much more performance than the ford truck efi or stock MAF system and they are self tuning but also tweekable, other than that if you want the ford eec-iv system the mass-flo efi is the best choice, even the edelbrock proflo will be a tight fit under the stock hood as it uses a vic jr manifold and the IAC is in a place where a drop air cleaner wont fit., the powerjection or ez-efi will fit with stock motor mounts and with a performer rpm or stealth intake or torker 2 or even performer will fit no problem under a stock hood.
I have a powerjection 1 which I am installing on my 408 stroker on a ported stelath and it will fit fine under my stock hood.
I would not even bother with the truck 5.8 efi as its a low performance but high torque intake/efi system but mainly made for MPG's and emissions and with speed density you cant upgrade the cam/exhaust much at all without major problems.

The adjustable motor mounts won't get you even close to the 5.8 truck top intake to fit under the hood. :-(
www.bcbroncos.com makes an adapter that will allow you to bolt either the 86-93 or the 94-95 passenger (Mustang) top onto a 351 lower truck efi.
http://bcbroncos.com/store/product_i...oducts_id=1059
The 94-95 intake will clear the shock towers braces in a 65-66 mustang.
The 86-93 won't and you will need one of these: http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...p?T1=STB65+01#
The 351 truck fuel rail (rear drivers side fuel inlet) will clear the 86-93 top intake but not the 94-95. You can use the 302 fuel rail if you lengthen the front and rear hoses that connect the passenger and drivers side rails.
Then use everything you would use on a 5.0. 302 ecm, aftermarket wiring harness, all sensors but use 24# blue injectors and a 24 lb calibrated MAF.
Make sure you get the correct distributor. Many listings including MSD's online catalog list a distributor with a steel cam gear.
Did deeper and you find: MSD# 8452 for the roller cam, 8453 for the non roller.

BigRed59,
You are getting some bad advice regarding the ECU. Ford put many, many differect ECU's (speed density and mass air) into car and trucks and an ECU for a 5.0 that has not been retuned simply will not work WELL on an 5.8. The simple reason is that there is a scalar in the tune that specifies the size of the engine. If you run a 5.0 ECU on a 5.8 you WILL run the engine lean.
Yes, I'm sure that there are people on here that have done it, but how many driveablity issues do you have - hard starting, bucking, hesistation??
You can use ANY EEC-IV ECU from a Mass Air equiped Ford; but you will have to retune it - either professionally or with a chip like the Moates Quarterhorse, and/or the Tweecer. Go ask this same question at eectuning (dot) org and you will get a lot of good, solid advice about the ECU.
That said, having done an EFI swap, I would recommend you take a hard look at if this swap is worth it. Really the only upside that I can see is that it starts the first time everytime and you get better gas mileage.
But if you are building a performance 5.8, you don't care about mileage and with some basic tuning and good electric choke, starting shouldn't be much of a problem either. A carb is just sooo easy.
Good luck....
