Default Radiator

I know this may be a stupid question, but how do you guys drain your radiator? I know where the drain is, but one of the supports is in the way and I need to save the antifreeze to put it back in the radiator.

I usually hold a 5 gallon bucket under the lower hose and pull it off.

Do you pull it off the radiator or off the motor?

Either, but better from the radiator. Loosen the rad cap first.

Yep, off the radiator, it's easier to get the bucket in there without hitting the oil pan (found that out the hard way).

BA,

On my 67 6 cyl, I was able to wedge a generic yellow plastic funnel in between the radiator and that diagonal support. I then put a container below that. (I was trying to keep the radiator fluid off the paint too [dont know if I needed to]). I miss that car.

You can also siphon it out of the top and get a majority out, then unhook the lower hose.

I found out the Hard way. Thought I released enough pressure but when i Yanked it off the hose was draining into the bucket but some was shooting so fast out of the rad it was a mess. Oh well its only anti-freeze haha

I got it. I put a tube on the drain. Now all I have left is charge the battery up and I am ready to drive it around.

I have never reused or heard of anyone reusing anti freeze. At $5.00 or so a gallon its seems easier, safer and better to replace with new clean fluid.

Whats your reasoning for reusing it?
