Default Pertronix Ignitor problem

So I finally decided to replace my 'ol points with the Pertronix I.

It came in the mail today and It was a pretty easy install.

However when It came time to drive it, it felt like I wasnt firing with all cyliders. The engine was vibrating more than normal, and I couldnt get any power out of the car.

I put the points back and now everything is back to normal.

The only thing I could have done wrong is not place the module close enough to the magnet inside the distributor. I also found a tutorial online about installing a pertronix II, which is almost Identical, and It showed the ground strap on top of the ignitor module. On mine, It was underneath the metal, so the screw went though the module, then the gound strap, then the into the distributor.

Here is the pic of the one on the tutorial. As you can see, it's screw-groundstrap-ignitor-distributor.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you use the feeler guage to set the distance between the magnet and the pickup?

You are not getting 12 volts to the pertronix. You only have 6 volts coming out of the positive side of the coil on a vintage Mustang, so if you ran the red wire to the plus (+) side of the coil, then you have it hooked up wrong. Here is an article that will show you how to hook it up right. http://va-mustang.com/articles.php?articleId=3
