Default Ford SVO Heads and Edelbrock intake-no fit!

All,

I'm working on building a 331 based on a 5.0 block. Using Y303 SVO heads. Wanted to run an Edelbrock Performer for hood clearance, and ran into a problem with the intake ports being too short to seal properly! (I don't consider 1/16" enuf to seal reliably!)

I was looking at some old pictures of the C9OX-D aluminum Ford intake, and it looks to have more meat on the tops of the ports than the new Edelbrock does.

So, I'm looking to find either an old Ford version, or perhaps an Edelbrock F4B which was modeled after the C9OX-D version (I'm told!).

If I can't get an intake to fit these heads, I'll probably opt out for a set of 351W heads, ported, and a cast iron intake, put the SVO heads on the shelf for something else... Hood clearance is really an issue, and a scoop of any sort is out of the question for what I'm trying to accomplish!

If anyone has one of these lying around that they'd care to part with, lemmeno!

Thanks and have a happy new year!
Steve

can you post some pics? how can it only be 1/16 of an inch? something is screwy, thats for sure.

btw, the weiand 8124 is a better intake than the regular performer and is still "small". i cant tell you how much better it would fit, but if you need a replacement intake i'd be looking in that direction first.

1/16" is an ***-hair.

Are you saying that with the manifold & gaskets in position that you are seeing that much of a gap between the top of the intake runners and the top of the intake port on the head?

Where exactly are you seeing this gap?

I've done some research lately on intake height. Had the Edelbrock info and just looked up the Weiand. Here you go.
Edelbrock Performer - 4.07"
Weiand 8024 - Front 3.82", Rear 4.75"
Edelbrock Performer RPM - 4.8"
