Default Charlene

So I figured I would start a thread about my build that would also help in getting familiar with most of you an vice-versa.

Charlene is a 65 Coupe. I won't bore you too much with what is currently in it but feel free to look in my garage, the whole list is there. I actually built her when I was in high school back between 1999-2000. When I started college, I blew the motor and was forced to park it because I had neither the time or the money. Now that I'm closer to finishing school, I figured I would try to get her road-worthy again. I'm going with a bone stock 5.0 HO out of a Lincoln Mark VII that I will be "carbing." I got a T-5 from a junkyard for $150 that came out of a 94-97 V6. Sounds like not a very good tranny but after running the tags I found this tranny has a 265lb/ft max torque rating and it is a world class so it has bearings on mainshaft gears. I will talk more about the specifics of each mod as I work on them. I also plan on building a set of adjustable strut rods that will mount in the original mounting location for the original strut rod. Here are some pictures of what I have going on currently.

No motor in it yet

Waiting on the R-Model Racing Valance

No gas cap

I had the pan laying around so I figured I'd use it

Hope it works LOL

I thought so too but I actually cleared pretty well when I had the other motor in it. I do plan on replacing those springs though with a new set of 620s.

620lb coils cut down 1 coil
Grab-a-Trak Lowers
1-1/8" Sway Bar

nothing very fancy at all.

true, but the global west uppers is pretty much 80's technology. I would consider fancy, TCP coil over or even RMP coil over. LOL

Hey I noticed you have a Mark VII disk swap. I have never heard of that but it sounds interesting. Care to tell me a bit about it? Reason I ask is because I have a Lincoln Mark VII sitting outside my shop that I puled the motor from and I noticed it had an 8.8 with disk brakes.

Nice looking 65 there, especially white which is my favorite color. I am doing the same pretty much except I plan on staying with the efi.

I like the cowl induction hood on it. The T5 should do fine for the 5.0.

Well, the set-up I did uses `85 Mark VII discs paired with `85 Cadillac Seville calipers and pads. JamesW used the Mark calipers tho. He has a nice write-up on his website...
