Default Clear sealant on window trim?

Anybody ever used a little clear sealant where the windshield and back window trim meets the body? I was thinking a little carefully applied sealant could keep any traces of water from getting under the chrome.

If there's a crack in the sealant, H2O will seep in the crack and the sealant will then trap in the moisture.

I'm just guessing, but that's what I think. By design, The trim should be screwed down so tight that there wouldn't even be room for the sealant.

Maybe you can post a pic.

I think you can do it if you use the same care you have used so far (body extention being the only exception ). Just be aware that over time, it tends to yellow and any that is visible will start to show.

I'm looking forward to your post on the windshieled and rear window install. They need sealant, but it is very difficult to do if you use the cord method to install. Good luck, your car looks fantastic!

The trim is not designed to seal, the rubber is. The trim is just for appearances. I would be hesitant to try and seal the trim to the glass and the body, it might trap water rather than keep it out.

The design is not the best which is not surprising considering how cheaply these (all really) cars were made. As long as the window channels are sound I think sealant would be overkill.

the window seals get bedding and glazing compound as much as fits with room to still install the trim

OK. I'll skip it. The glass was left in during the paint. The gasket is good and the window channels were already good, but I cleaned them out and they got painted too. There was very little sealant of any kind under the trim. I only found it at the corners.
