Default How will I sit?

I need to replace my front springs, I am considering going with the 620lb'ers. They claim to have "about a 1 inch drop".

1966 Mustang coupe, 6 cylinder with manual brakes, manual steering and no air conditiong. I have a standard eye, 4.5 leaf springs in the rear.

Now, I don't really want a big drop in the front. I also don't want to buy longer springs and cut them. I know there are spacers available, but the smallest I've seen is a 1/2", and the companies say it will raise the body 1 inch. That will be too much.

Also, I know that the early Mustangs (can't remember if it was both Coupes and Fastbacks, or just Fastbacks) appeared to be sagging in the rear from the factory. I know some people like to drop the front end about a quarter inch to portray a more level body. I have seen pictures of these rides and do like the way I look. So, with my relatively lightweight frontend, how much lower do you guys think my nose will be sagging in comparison to my rearend? Does anyone make 1/4" spring spacers?

Does anyone have pictures of their classic mustangs with a front end drop?

you don't want 620s. You are too light in the front to warrent them.

Buy lighter springs, put them in, and if you are not happy with them, cut 1/2 coil off.

My grandfather put them on his 66 with a 6cyl. He cut the old springs to drop it and he said they didn't move up any after he put them in, but I haven't seen it so I don't know about it.

I agree. I would go with stock springs and cut.

Forgot to add he replaced the stock springs after he cut them with the 620 lb 1" drop coils. I haven't seen it since christmas, which was before he had the new ones on. He cut 1 coil off and it dropped it almost to where mine is.

Go with a new stock GT spring and the Shelby drop (redrill and lower the upper arms by 1") and you will drop the front end about 1/2".

There was a difference between stock 6cyl and 8cyl springs? According to Mustangs Plus it was the same spring for both: http://mustangsplus.com/xcart/produc...at=2128&page=1

What about their GT syle spring? Firmer than stock but not quite as firm as the 620?

I know the ride will be firmer. I have the typical kyb Gas A Just shocks with the firmer springs in the rear. Maybe these "GT" springs would be a better match, paired with the Shelby drop? I am trying to get the handling 'sporty'.

OK.

Now for sway bars? I'm going to get a front setup now, but will deal with a rear setup later; so we don't need to go into that.

Will I be satisfied with the 1" or should I go with the 1 1/8"? Only ten bucks more. I assume it will handle better, how else will the ride differ?

what's wrong with the 620's? I've heard this a few times and have always wondered...
