Default IFS Suspension Help Needed

How do the IFS suspensions install? I've heard they bolt on, but I'm wondering if they need to be welded in place.

Which is the better one to buy? The Heidts? Is this a good one?

I like Heidts because it comes with reinforced plates over the frame rails.
It's definitely welded, and you want it that way
It's a good kit and they were the first ones on the block back then.
If you go coil over shocks, don't buy the QA1.
They are pure sh#t! Total waste of money.

Here are a few pictures...

I agree with Pascal. I looked at the different setups for a couple years before going with the Heidits. Plus it will clean up the engine bay and give you extra room.

Rod & Custom is my second choice...
I do like their height adjustments via the upper shock brackets.

Pics of that set up on a 70 Maverick...

Thank you for the information. How is the ride after the Heidts was installed? How about the steering with the new unit? Did you change the rear end at all?

Rod&customs on my ride cant beat them and customer support is unmatched.
Those guys helped me with some other issues you will encounter doing this swap.

The steering rack is off a Taurus and it's plenty smooth.
The ride's fine and i made it a little harsh because I want good handling.
I have 620lbs srings with Konis and 1and 1/8 swaybar.
I have a 71 rear eand with 96 xplorer disc brakes. Great set-up.

Can't comment on the ride or handling yet because I am putting it together right now. I am also going with the Heidit's 4 link with the stock 8inch and putting on crown vic brakes. So if all goes well in a couple months I can give you an answer.
