Default Spring Help

I should be getting my mach back from the painter in a couple of weeks. The first thing will be to start on the suspension. I have a 351w alumiunum heads, aluminum radiator and battery in the trunk so my front will be a little lighter. What is a good spring rate for a daily driver. I want a decent ride. I read the post about suspensions and it pretty much the way I am going with the softer springs and stiffer shocks but was wondering if 540 spring rate was too stiff? If not where do you get them with the 1" drop? The rear springs will be 4 and 1/2 leaf mideye to get the lower stance I want. Are the rears too stiff? Should I go with 4 leaf mideye? The tires and rims are 17x8" coys with 245/45R17 kuhmos like I have on my challenger.
Thanks
Todd

I went with 5 leaf mideyes, but I wish I would have gone 4.5 mideyes.
Also went with the 620's, but I probably should have gotten something softer.

Sounds like a plan to me! I think sacrificing performance a bit for comfort is ok if it's just a streeter...

I have 1" drop 540 coils, shelby drop, roller perches, 4.5 leaf mid-eyes, and Edelbrock IAS shocks all the way around. I drive my car every day and love it. It's firm but not jarring, and it handles really well compared to the stock setup. If you want a really smooth ride, or if you live in europe (where the roads are notoriously poor), the 540's may be too stiff, but I find them just fine for driving around the CA central coast (our roads suck).

540 would be fine since they was made for small blocks and you did lose some weight up front.Been me id go 540 or progressive rate springs which ride smooth but handle great when you get on it.If you want to lower it you cut the coils a Shelby drop can work too but only on 64-70 cars.

Andrew, I've mentioned this before, Opentracker's 540lb springs are already a 1" drop. Cutting coils is not ideal, especially if you're using aftermarket springs.
