Default When did 1965 production end?

Anyone know when 65 production ended. I'm curious cause I just found the engine id #'s and it is a 65 289 but it's painted blue. It is a pretty late model 65 it would seem (april 23 1965). So I'm thinking that's why it's blue instead of black

1966 Mustang production began on Monday August 16, 1965 at the Dearborn and San Jose plants, and a week later at the Metuchen plant. Production of '65s probably stopped the Friday before.

"So I'm thinking that's why it's blue instead of black"

Any chance someone along the line has pulled the motor to give it an overhaul or a rebuild?

it's possible, but it's pretty tired right now, i'm just trying to figure out if it's original or not, i got the codes and it's the right engine code for my car, but the engine build date is one month after my production build date so i'm kinda confused

After the 64 1/2 stopped * grinz*

I would presume about August 1964 once they had everything to go after using up 1964 Fairlane parts because they were starting to use Alternators for 65.

They were all VINed and sold as 65's, but '64.5' stopped July 31 or August 1.
Don't know who came up with that date but it is what I remember as the 'correct' date. I suppose based on other Ford production dates.
