i own a 1965 mustang and im trying to buy a disk break converter kit because i have drum breaks. my wheels only have 4 lugnuts and ALL the kits im looking at it shows 5 lugnuts so they wouldnt fit my car, do kits with 4 lugnuts exist? or do i have a problem and could i get disk breaks other wise.

There are some kits for 4 lug.

scarebird makes an adapter kit to where you could do it. There are some others, but they are pretty expensive.

You could just get an 8 inch rear end with 5 lug drum and then the 5 lug front disc brakes. Then not only would it be better and safer, but you could run alot of differen't wheels too.

+1

Your wheels options would increase substantially.

If you want to stay 4 lug go with the Scarebird kit, that way you know exactly what you have and can get replacement parts at any part store. There are other 4 lug kits out there , Stainless Steel Brake for one, but they are high $$$$.

Why do you feel you need disc brakes? How often/hard do you drive the car? I drove around my v8 car with 4 wheel drums for several years before I switched. I'm not saying that discs aren't a great thing, but you should consider whether or not you really need them. A properly adjusted drum system should work ok for an I6 car that doesn't get driven hard.

tad is right, the i6 car doesnt really need a disk brake. although they are safer and better.

you could find a 8" rearend pretty cheap, and rebuilding the front suspension isnt hard at all. and that way, if you ever decide to swap to a v8 later, the suspension will already be done.
