Its been a year since we disassembled the car & I don't remember what got screwed in here.
It's the hole (threaded) at the top of the door pillar engine side & on both driver & passenger pillars.

There was never a bracket that was welded to the cowl and bolted to the fender on our 67. Here is a shot from way back Feb 08. Only the fenders removed, nothing cut from the cowl. The 1/4" threaded hole is seen by the upper door hinge. I'll have to look at the fenders tomorrow and find the bracket.

vescotechwas correct. This was for the small fender brace that bolts to the car here and extends up/outwards. To fasten the fender to the brace you run the bolt from the door forward into the brace. Thanks for the replies.
The splash shields are located almost a foot forward from this hole by the firewall.
