I wouldnt be suprised if the heads were warped a bit, causing a leak between the cylinder and the water jacket. Might have the machine shop make sure they're flat.

BTW, if you go TFS, dont forget that you'll need new pushrods and head bolt bushing. That will add another $100-$130 to the price.

pressurizing the system is a great idea, that should give you a solid indication of where the problem lies.

You don't want to run full shop air into the cooling system. Likely you'll blow something out like that. You only need about 15psi.

Try a radiator repair shop if you have any near you, for the pressure tester.

yah i'll def regulate that before pumping the thing to bits. Pal said there's a tool hire in town who might have the 'proper' thing. will try a rad shop as well tomorrow. On sat i'm gonna pull em and see from there.
I'm qutie sure I'll actually bring them to the shop. If they say they're cracked then this puts my mind at rest. i know it's expensive but at least i know far a fact that thats whats wrong. i'm changing my mind ion a daily basis at the moment. so i better stop talking until I have them in my hands

i tried the rad shop, 2 car part stores, 2 garages and the tool hire.
only the tool hire has a pressure tester with half inch thread. useless to me. I have so much liked the idea.
