Default Electrical Issues - Dome Lights

I need some electrical advise, I was out the other night in my 67. We stopped at one spot for awhile I noticed the interior lights were working. Cruised on to the next location and they would not come on. I opened both doors, also tried the dimmer switch and they would not come on. The next morning I went out to try and figure it out I opened the door and they came on. I have the two under dash, both console and the two in the back panels. I know it is probably a short or possible ground but I have no idea on where to start. They are currently off. Anybody out there have any ideas? First thought is the door switch, but would'nt it work on the opposite door or the dimmer? Any thoughts would be apprciated.

Sometimes my door switch gets stuck and wont turn. Maybe check fuses to make sure they aren't about to go.

Default A few tips.

For a long time my mustang lights wouldnt come on either, well more so they would come on when they wanted to mainly durring the day or when i didnt need them, one day i crawled under and started playing with some wires. sure enough one was lose at the door switch. my advice would be to start at the door switch, then work my way to the fuse block, then move to the lights. lose wires are a pain to locate, i found that if you tap/play/move around different sections of wire you will find where the problem is at. or just get fed up with constantly chasing wires and rip everything out and get a new harness. ( last resort )

Remove your door switches ans clean the corrosion off of the contacts with a small wire brush.

There are 3 pointed contacts that touch a brass ring when the button pops out.

Once corrosion gets back there..the fail.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I have a weekend project ahead of me. By the way it is acting I figured it was something loose. The thing that throws me off is:
Would one loose contact make the whole thing not work? I would think if one door switch was out the other would work or the dimmer switch would still be active. Is this not the case?

see this one?

Inside the mechanism just before the plastic end there are 2 or 3 pointy brass contacts which went in contact with the small brass contact close the circuit.

Corrosion can happen anywhere power is involved. It's the nature of the beast.

Both of the switches could be corroded and the bulb contact as well

Yeah, one bad wire can throw off the lights, the fact that the dimmer switch wont work leads me to believe it might be at the fuse block or somewhere soon after. the door might be part of the problem but just start from the door and work from there. good luck man.
