Default Front oil pick up for a 351w

So I am going to start tearing apart my 351w and getting it ready for a rebuild. Originally the motor came out of a 79 ford truck. The guy I bought it from asked me what I was going to do with it and I told him it was for my mustang. He told me I would need a front sump oil pan and a pick up to go with it. Luckily he had both. Today however, I went looking for said parts to discover that the pick up had been stolen, or misplaced, I am not sure which. In any case I'm not sure where to find a replacement. I remember the guy telling me that the pan and pick up were from a 302 and were pretty hard to find. Anyone know where I could find a replacement part? I know swap meets are a good place to look, but I don't have any that are local until April and even then I have to drive 4 hours for it. Any ideas guys? Oh yeah. Another question. Since the 351 came out of a truck, would the connecting rods, pistons, and push rods be stronger than if it came out of a car? What are the advantages, if any, of a truck motor being retrofitted to one that wasn't?

At one time they were available at Napa. Starfury works at one maybe he can chime in and let you know if it is. I'm not sure if the 351 & the 302 have the same oil pump. Seems like the pump drive shaft is larger on the 351.

The pan, pump and pickup for the 351 are not the same as the 302 IIRC.

351w and 302 pans are different. You can pick up a front sump pan from any auto parts store, common part.

I would take the time and extra $ (it ain't much at all) once you have mocked up the engine and aligned the pickup correctly to get it brazed to the oil pump housing, just good insurance. As for replacing the pump, if you disassemble it and the housing is in good condition and the gears and gear shafts are in good condition you can reuse it, but it's always a good idea to inspect and thoroughly clean any engine part you are thinking of reusing before you make up your mind.
