USAA is awsome, thats who I have had insurance with for the last 4 years.. Im Navy. They have allways been the cheapest and I have never had a problem getting help or services from them.

I don't know if I'm a huge fan of the idea of an electric Mustang, but none the less it's a cool project and I applaud you for doing something so different.

if it doesnt twist in half...it has the potential to take souls like the old shoe maker... 0 to 60 in 3 sec or less.. Although I doubt he plans on setting the ESC up for that type of amp draw.... Patently waiting to see how it does.

Dang, I've been ignoring this thread because I thought it was another Elenor build. This is the coolest thing I've see on the forum, my hat's off to you.

+1 for USAA, they've been my insurer for 13 years, great coverage, nice rates, and AWESOME customer service!

Thanks for the support -- hopefully I'll get some new pics soon. (Hopefully I'll get the CAR soon!)
Any recommendations on car transporters?

since you are with the Army, isn't there a chance to pull a battery from a jet?
I'm quite sure they'd pull a lot of them even if still good

Won't the military help you get your toys home?

If you check out the Factory Five site, a lot of guys there use the same transporter to get their cars to North Carolina for paint. Can't remember the name of the company, but you should be able to find it easy.

Nope -- no help from the Army on this one. The car is in Oregon -- if I lived there and moved to NY, the Army might pay to move it, but since I already live in NY and just bought the car in Oregon, they won't.

Not sure what batteries the Army might have to give me, but I'm sure they don't have ones like the ones I'm using. For an EV -- especially one this heavy -- you need lithium batteries. These are nothing like the batteries you'd have in a regular car. If the Army has any lithium batteries, I'm sure they're not giving them away.

They have lithium batteries, but you cant power your car with them. RFID tags and NVG use them. As for moving the car 3000 miles, if you know someone doing a DITY from McChord AFB to Dover or Ft Drum, they might be able to help. Actually we could use a site like that for people on PCS, something to network and get things moved. Of course it wouldnt be something the DOD would reimburse you on.

Still interested in your conversion. Hopefully you get some progress on it soon.
