timing cover question

Default timing cover question

is it possible to change the seal for the crank on the timing cover or do i have to replace then entire cover?

Very possible. A new timing cover gasket set should come with the seal. I believe you just need a hooked seal puller.

is there a homemade tool that could do it or should i go pick one up from harbor freight or Advanced auto or autozone? which place would be my best bet to find one? or pepboys?

Any parts store should have one on the shelf. I think the one we sell (at Napa) is like $8.

You may want to wait for someone else to pipe up, though. It's been so long since I did mine that I can't remember if I used a seal puller or a socket.

will do. thanks for the imput i atleast know not to toss my cover in the trash now. i wasnt sure. ive looked in all these kits and i havent noticed it. i dont know if its a universal picture or what but it didnt look like mine.
