Default Removable hardtop

I saw a removable hardtop for 65-66 verts years ago and the thought of doing the conversion has been rolling around in my head ever since. There is nothing original about my 68, I cut the frame and floors out and built a custom frame last summer so I think I might tackle this project this summer. Here is a shot of the hardtop kit. It was called a "Towne Top". What are your opinions.

it doesnt appear to alter your car's originality very much, maybe some brackets...
depends on price, and why you would even want this?

I'll give you 1 vote for the convertible.

Well as you can see I could care less about originality.

Also my car is a coupe so it would require more than a few brackets and I would want this so I'd be able to take the top off

I can't remember where, but I saw years ago a kit where the hood actually folded up and was stored in the trunk, not just lifted off

That is the retractable hardtop from mustangsplus. As far as I know they never offered the kit for sale. I've seen a mustang on ebay a few times that had the kit. It never sold. I don't like the way it looks at all. They make the back part of the roof flat so it folds up and it looks goofy.

Here is the completed listing from ebay from a few weeks ago http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-...QQcmdZViewItem
See what I mean about the flat back looking goofy. Not to mention the tacky paint job.

Both the roofline and the deck lid clearly make that car not a Mustang.

I'm OK with the removable hardtop idea. The feature has been used on other notable cars like the MG and the T Bird. It's great for people who like a vert in the summer, but use the warmer, quieter HT in the winter or for really long trips. As long as a true Mustang roof or good replica can be used it's a nice custom add on. Vinyl or Paint work. The only thing is the roof will be super heavy so it's a once or twice a year thing to use it practically.

I was going to say, I never saw one for a 67-68 Mustang only the 65-66 style. It would have to be aftermarket for that year. I don't think I like it?
Kinda looks like a Fairlane Ranchero!
