Okay the 298 is a great engine and very reliable. But a stock 289 has no chance against a 351W, possibly a 302 but not a 351 like whoever sdia, no sub for c.i.
I'd say I favor the 289/302 over the 351 because of its power to weight ratio that can be achieved. Specifically, I prefer the 302's very oversquare design that lends it to be a high reving engine. Some say that there is no replacement for displacement. But, I say they don't know the power of RPMs.

yeah, the 289 is definitly the best engine if you want decent power and reliability thatll go on and on and on, but they are definilty not the most powerful, stock 427 is the most powerful Ford engine made. Small blocks are easier to maintain and more reliable, along with the windsor, but not if you want power.
oh yeah, if ur windsor leaks anything other then what it does because its just an old car (most old cars drip oil every now and then) then u need to learn how to take acare of ur car
