Default Swap Timming Chain Cover

I have a simple Dumb question. I prob will not do this, but I am just curious to know if this works.

I dont have a water pump pulley for my this 72 302 engine. Anyways, I was curious to know if I could swap the (timing chain cover, water pump, water pump pulley, Harmonic Balancer, and Crank pulley) of my old 68 engine and place it on the 72 front.

why would you need to change the timing cover they are the same?, but yes everything will all swap over as both motors are 28oz balanced motors

Just making sure I am saying this correctly, If I need to I can swap the a 28oz 4 bolt balancer to a 28oz 3 bolt and be fine?

Also, I tried using the putting the 68 water pump in the 72 timing cover, and it does not work. The 68 Water pump has no back and the 72 does.

thxs
