Rack & Pinion?
In installed the manual FR rack & steering column a couple years back and I have no real complaints. Steering effort at slow speeds was certainly easier than the manual steering box I had before so that was an upgrade.
As far as the turning radius goes, I didn't notice a difference.
The steering column was probably the weak link but even at that it has worked just fine.
The headers were a bit of a stickler. I wound up going with shorty JBAs and they fit like a glove. A 650.00 glove.

Looks like most are centered aroung the M2 rack. I have a M2 (Rod and Custom) on the "E" and it does very well. Its not power and I don't mind bruiting the wheel when stopped however it may be a little hard for my 110lb wifie to turn. I did install a "Flaming River" power rack and pinion on her car, but its not finished and I can't report the actual results. It does however act like the R&C front when not in motion taking about the same amount of force to turn. I am certain once hooked up and with the engine running it will be "VERY" easy for to turn even at a stand still. Keep the header thing in mind as this can be an issue depending on what kind of rack and pinion you choose. All are not the same and you can find the linkage in the way of the header (or the other way around) and will limit the choice that you can use (if any). The radius thing may be a problem with EDD's but not so much on a weekend warrior. Good luck.
