Please help with Ignition system problem
ok, so i have a new MSD 6al ignition system, new msd ignition coil, new voltage regulator, and a new battery and distributor. My problem is that when i turn the key, the engine turns over but wont start. there just isnt any spark to the coil. why is that? what can i do?
First thing that comes to mind, are you supplying the system with a full 12V? The factory wiring to the coil includes a resistor wire from the back of the ignition switch out to the firewall connector. This cuts the voltage to the coil to about 8V to keep from burning out points. Many aftermarket ignitions require a full 12V to function properly, which requires that you bypass the stock ignition resistor wire.
yes, ive checked all the grounds and there is a current going through all the wires yet still no spark, on my last ignition system i didnt use the points wire at all and it worked but no there still is no spark.
