Default Broken Axel Help

I broke my rear axel after hitting a patch of ice and then a curb. It broke behind the hub so I was wondering what is the easiest way to get it out. I have an 8" open rear end. Thnx.

Ew...my sympathies.

The best way to get it out would be to weld a loop of some sort to the end of the axle, then pull it out with that. The next best bet would be to try to drill the axle (may not work well), tap it, and thread in a lage bolt to pull it out with.

Pull the axle on the other side. Now you have access to the broken axle from the diff side. Maybe you can get someting long and narrow and poke it out from the diff side. If it's broken to the inside of the seal, have someone ready to guide it out through the seal.

you are going to have trouble getting something past the center pin in the differential.

The main thing holding it in will be the bearing. If you can break it up enough to get most of it off the axle should come right out.
