Default Wiring question??

Well I installed a MSD box in my inner passenger side fendor and connected to direct 12 v to test and everything fired perfect. The 12 v source was supposed to come off the starter solenoid but I ran the wire into the passenger compartment to hook to the accessory side of the ignition. Apparently this does not get juice when starting so the engine doesnt fire. Any idea's where to connect in the area of the gauges that stays on when the ignition is on. I am getting tired of poking my fingers with a voltmeter. I have different gauges then stock and was thinking of using the input for the resistor that used to be used with the old gauges that reduces to 5V. Any ideas

i'm not really sure what you are doing here. But the 'I' terminal on the starter selonoid is not a constant 12V source. you only have 12V there when you are turning the key into start position.
Now to get 12V near gauge cluster you can pick it off the ignition switch

Fakesnakes,

That is where I was going to make the hook up. I wired to the post and unexpectedly it didnt fire. Aha @##%. I imagine that it doesnt stay hot when in the start position. I will now have to poke a few ignition wires and find one that stays hot all the time when in acc, start and run( and goes off at off). I am wondering if the wire that used to hook to the gauge resistor(12v to 5V) stays hot that way. I am trying to avoid running another wire out to the starter solenoid.
