Default Ok . . . My setback.

After earier, asking about the headers, turns out, I did get a chance to hook them up and it worked perfectly. However, I have a few questions....

i noticed.... in my corner of my garage, was the metal plate between the engine and the transmission.

Anyways, I need some advise, I need to take out the whole engine and place the plate.

Thanks for the advise.

Also, for now, I have not gotten a chance to get any header gaskets yet, I would like to see if the engine would start and work, is that ok for temparly and get them later.

Thanks again

That is the blockplate.

Looks similar to this:

description:
.060" steel plate goes between the block & transmission to provide proper starter to flywheel/flexplate alignment & correct torque converter backspacing. Removable starter spacer provides exact starter positioning to prevent starter kickout & flywheel damage on either 157 or 164 tooth flywheel/flexplates.
Great if you are changing transmission styles.

You can leave the engine in the car, drop the tranny and remove the flywheel/flexplate. Do you mean you did not install the header gasket at the head or collector or both? I would install the gasket before torquing all the bolts otherwise you are repeating steps, but it will not hurt anything to start the engine without the gaskets.

Sounds good. As for the block plate. I am thinking about unhooking the collector area on the dual headers. Then I will jack up the engine a few inches and then pull off the flywheel, installl the block plate and put it back together. Leaving the exhaust manifolds on both sides.
