pony VS standard is all up to you and how factory original you want your car to be.

that said i have pony in my '65 and like it although it came with standard.

mines the rangoon red, red carpet & dash, parchment doors & dash and then white seats & top.

Since yours doesnt sound to be a vert, you dont have to match the top & seats so its a benefit for you.

having said that im a fan of the white interior but black is much more easy to take car of haha. i have seat covers for my car for when i drive it so i dont make the seats any worse then they are (35 year old seats - upholstered in mid 70s)

as far as buying it

I would call laurel mountain mustang. they have a great complete interior package that is detailed and includes EVERYTHING!

that is what i did on my 66 and i like it. it was very complete.

If you look at there ebay adds you can get a smokin price. i think i paid $560 for the whole kit it even includes all the screws which are #ed and labeled.

The only problem I have with the pony interior is the metal insert in the back of the seat rest that burns the hell out of me during the summer but I'm sure that's not enough to change your decision with the interior, and I still love the look

Quick question guys. I like the moulded door panels, where the arm rest is intergrated into the panel. Can I use standard door handles on the moulded panels or do I have to use the pony handles? I really want the moulded panels but the pony handles have the woodgrain on them and doesn't match the interior of going all black and chrome.

So I guess two questions.

1.) Can I use standard handles on the moulded panels
2.) If not, anyway to get rid of the woodgrain that still looks good?

I've always preferred the Pony interior myself.

I don't know if you can, I feel like the standard handle might hit the top of the pony door where it's "puffed" out a bit. It would be a close fit, you might be able to reposition it so it doesn't sit in it's original seated spot. As for the pony door handle, it is simply a chrome handle with a woodgrained sticker on it. A bit cheesy it you ask me but it's $20 so what do you expect.... I've often times thought about taking the handle off, taping it off, and painting the sticker black since the woodgrain clashes with my black glove box and black instrument cluster. I think that this would look good if done properly.

I loved the pony interior but not the switch to the woodgrain theme.

Just take the woodgrain sticker of the handle and it will be chrome?

I used the Pony interior sets for my '65.. I didn't do the pony for the door panels. It gets expensive for arm rest changes, etc.. Here's a picture
