standard vs pony interior
just curious how people feel about standard interior vs pony interior. i'll be reupholstering in the next few weeks and i personally like the standard interior better but i know that the pony interior adds more value which might be nice when it comes time to resell.
I don't think anything beats the 66 blue and white pony interior, that's what I got. But do what you like and think looks good. The pony interior isn't necessarily gonna up the resale value more, it depends on the buyers preference. What color is your car and what color is the current interior?
BTW, have you ever done any reupholstering before? The pony interior uses a little thicker of foam than standard so it might make it a little bit harder to secure those hog rings down to get those nice creases in the front seats.
car is red-orange with white racing stripes. looks red in the sun and burnt orange in the garage. Interior is parchment with burgandy carpet and dash pad. I plan on doing an all black interior. Good point with the suggestion that it's all about the buyers preference.
I've reupholstered a couch and did a nice job but not car seats. Just to be safe, i think i'll have it done professionally.
I like that choice, it looks good! Not too pratical for me here in Phoenix
Do you plan on doing your dash panel black, dash pad black and carpet as well? cause I would does those first before putting the seats and doors in. Also, when you go to the upholstery shop make sure that you point out to them that they need to hog ring the creases in the seats. On the back side of the vinyl there are plastic strips sewn onto it that follow the contours that seperate the differentiations in the seat appearance...... you'll see what I mean when you buy the upholstery. Make sure that they hog ring those down through the foam onto the frame itself or else you'll get "loose" looking seats. I guess you would have to see a picture of seats done right and not done right to see the difference. I've just seen SO many jobs done by people that don't take the time to do this and I think it doesn't look as good.
BTW, where are you buying your interior parts from?

Oops, I was wrong, it's been awhile since I've done my mustangs interior. Instead of the plastic sewed to the vinyl, it's metal rods that are inserted through looped channels on the backside of the vinyl, then there are metal rods on the other side of the foam that the hog rings connect the two rods together. Either way, the point was that it looks better done this way than not. I bought my interior from California Mustang and thought it looked good, haven't heard anything about Mustangs unlimited or Mustangs plus other than that I don't like Mustangs plus interior laquer.... it had too much metal flake in it.

They say that the Pony interior adds about 10% to the value of the car. And yes I agree with pootypeters that the blue & white is the nicest combination. I have had both in my mustangs. If you are going with all black, it really doesn't matter which one you go with. I like them both.
