Question Export Brace Reinforcement?

I've already installed an export brace, but I thought it would probably be a good idea to pull it off and throw one of those reinforcement plates on the firewall. But I've been looking around and I haven't found any instructions or pictures on the best way to install the reinforcement. It's very odd that there are no articles on this installation since the export brace is such a common upgrade. Anyone have any suggestions or pictures? I was thinking of drilling a few holes in the firewall and rosette welding the plate, then seam welding the edge to the firewall. Thoughts? Comments?

I did the same, just bolted it under the brace. Pretty straight forward. Not really a need to weld the thing in, the pressure is all it's displacing, which the bolts will do fine to hold it in place.

Really? I was told that it was supposed to be welded to the firewall.

Ideally, but you don't have to. Bolting a piece of angle iron in is usually good enough. Feel free to weld it in if you're a competent welder, though

Ah, well I guess I'll just weld it in anyway. Thanks!

also keep in mind you'll probably have to remove it if you have to take out your engine or do some engine work... welding won't be the best option in that case

Oh, I'm just welding in the small L-bracket that reinforces the firewall, not the whole export brace.

I just used some angle iron and a backer plate on the inside.
