What if it's raining? What if you want fresh air without cabin turbulence? Sorry, I like my cowl vents:P

Looks really nice. The deep green works nice with the white stripes. I can't wait to see your reassembly pics. Don't wait till it's all done. Post some progress pics.

Open the vent window that's your fresh air lol. With a vintage air kit you can keep your driver side part of the cowl so you could use that for fresh air.My 65 impala had vents in the kick panels for fresh air they worked great and never rusted out wish ford was that smart.

Yeah, Ford didn't get that smart on the Mustang until 1969!

Why would you have a classic mustang out in the rain??? If you do get caught in the rain though, the AC system runs when the defroster is selected and the AC will dry the air taking the moisture out. Adjust the temperature lever for what temp you want. The air comes through the AC first drying it and then goes through the heater core to get you the temp you want. The AC in and of itself doesn't eliminate the fresh air vents down by your feet. The AC blocks off the intake that the original heater system used to pull air from the cowl. Basically, the new AC/heat system will only recirculate, but the fresh air vents would still work except that in adrenolin's case the cowl grill is now closed off. At least that's how the system I plan to use on my 70 mustang works. I personally plan to also close off the cowl grill on my 70, but also plan to run a duct from the rectangular openings outboard of the headlight in the headlight/fender extension, then through the wheel well and into the cowl. Then I can have the clean look of no cowl grill openings and still have fresh air. That's the plan anyway, but the master plan has changed so many times I can't even count. We'll see what really happens when it happens.

...because some of us drive our cars. A lot. In my case, every day. They were meant to be driven. Rain isn't toxic.

I just don't like the idea of removing the primary HVAC fresh air source. Recirculating cabin air is not always ideal. Hell, I don't even use the recirculate/max a/c feature in newer cars unless I'm driving by a cattle farm. I like fresh air, and I like it through the vents. I just don't see a good reason to eliminate the cowl intake. If you're going to go through the effort to weld it up, you could just as easily coat it with a rust inhibitor (paint, POR-15, whatever) and then weld it back together.

Don't get me wrong, I love Adrenolin's car, and I'm sure he knows that I just don't like that particular aspect.

Joe67.. Yes my father and I did the body work. Thanks for the compliment. This is the first time we've done something like this other than a repair to a panel. I block and long boarded the entire car 3 times and finished with a final coat of Black primer. The car was then shipped to the paint shop where they did a quick final sanding for me. I forget if it was 1 coat or 2 of base and then there was 4 coats of clear applied. They started wet sanding and buffing today.

As will our car. It'll see daily driving year round. Its a car! I also understand and have no issues with differences people have between what someone likes and another dislikes. The world would be pretty damned boring if everything was the same!
