Pertronix Problem!!
Installed an Ignitor I in a 66 289 this evening. Connected black wire to coil connected red wire to batt side of coil. Car fired on first turn of the key and many other start/stop times over a 30 minute time period. The car hasn't start this easy in a long time. Now heres the problem, I turned the car off and installed air cleaner and then tried to start the car and she cranks but won't start!!! ANy have any suggestions?
Find out what's wrong?
It could be a bunch of things. Some carb'd cars are hard to restart after sitting for certain periods of time, due to heat soak. Could be vaporizing fuel out of the carb, maybe you knocked something loose putting the air cleaner on. Did you flood it?

get rid of the aircleaner. if that sorts your problem then you are shorting it out somewhere
at the same time check if your vacuum canister rattles.
I once installed pertronix distributor (don't know exactly what yoiu changed), and the vac canister wasn't screwed properly to the distributor (the bolt was loose) so it rattled. that caused the ignitor module to not get any ground. so the car would stall in all sorts of situations.
But i'd say check again what you changed from when it worked to when it stopped
