Default Who is using shorty headers?

I was installing my headers this weekend and ran into trouble. I have headman elite coated headers which normally would fit, but I used the 1/2 lowering motor mounts and not they hit the steering box which I could fix with a BFH. I still would have a problem with installing the new clutch cable with the late model bellhousing. My thought is to switch to shorty headers and that way I could clear the steering gear and would only have the exhaust pipe to clear by the bellhousing. Who is using shorty headers and what kind? Would the stock header style manifolds off the late 80's early 90's mustangs work?
Thanks
Todd

Don't think fox body manifolds will work. They will hit the shock towers. I have started to wonder whether lowered motor mounts are a good idea now.

There may be other long tube headers out there that will work. I just had bought these at a swap meet and didnt think too far ahead about the cable or the lowering mounts

I have RMP 1/2" lowered mounts and a clutch cable on my 66 fastback. I went with Headman mid-length headers. I wanted a 5/8" primary, ceramic coated header that would fit and they fit perfectly. The #7 tube is a little strange in how it loops over the top, but they clear everything. Summit says they fit a 351w, so I thought they may have more clearance and they do:

There is a special bracket. Summit or Headman direct will have it

We used the same headers on the 66 with a 351W , we had to modify them a little with a hammer, but they would have fit flawless with a 289/302. I thought the quality/price ratio was very good, and frankly I just prefer mid length headers, makes the whole build and later repairs EASIER.
