Question Engine Pull

Okay, this weekend I am going to pull my engine. It's a straight 6, & stock. I am going to take everything out of the engine bay & I was wondering what all I need to have hooked up in order to start it while it's pulled. Should I take the ignition switch & cylinder out also so all I have to do is turn the key?? Or what? Please let me know & any info will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Quin

you don't need the lock to remotely start the engine. i would recommend the entire exhaust line and a fire extinguisher.

I am wondering WHY you want to start it out of the car...

But, to start the 6 you dont need much but a battery, a couple battery cables, a few feet of wire, a few feet of gas hose, and a SAFE (sealed) gas container with a pint or so of fuel.

If running for a few seconds, you wont need a radiator or water. If running for longer times you will need water in the engine.

The engine will need to be secured in a way that it can not fall. I am thinking that the engine will need a bell housig at a minimum as well.

Now back to my first statement, the why... It is a lot of trouble to do this, and it really is not safe unless you have a specially designed stand to do this. A stand will cost some money. I remember doing this as a kid, but other than it being something to "play with" there was no reason.

I would not do it now that I am a little smarter.
