Default Inline 6 Questions!

Hey all,

I am currently working on my 1966 Coupe with a 200cid. It is mostly done. I am going to have the breaks done professionally (parents don't trust me :P). I have a few questions for an increase in power. I registered on the Ford Six Forum and am waiting to be confirmed. So I'll just toss some questions out here:

1. I have been looking into swaping the cylinder head out with the 250cid head to get rid of the log intake. What all do I need to do to the 250 to make it fit and function properly?

2. I have a couple of superchargers from 1966 Shelby GT350s and would like to put one into my car. Is it possible to do with a 2bbl carb or do I need the 4bbl? What kind of power gains am I looking at? I'm also looking into dropping the second one into my Dad's 65 convertable. He has a 302 with a 4bbl. Are any modifications necessary to the carb (either holley or autolite) to use the super? Are there any places to buy new parts to rebuild the superchargers? I have the housing and everything for one, but just the blower for the other, and the blower has a small hole in the case?

3. I currently have a T5 in my car, and it slips out of first gear. How hard is this to fix? Can I rebuild the trans myself or should I have it done professionally?

I don't have the largest budget on my projects and want to do as much work as possible myself due to being in high school.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Ryan

You will still have a log intake with a 250 head, the aluminum head and some other head(can't think of name) have the non log intake. You can put the supercharger on with either a 2bbl or a 4bbl. Make sure you get the correct kind of float, because under pressure the copper ones ill collapse. Gains depend on how much boost you run, head you choose, exhaust, dizzy, things like that. If the engine is mainly stock you will want to run no more than 9 PSI. Go higher and you have the risk of blowing the engine. 250 should just bolt on after you get it milled and decked. Could probably rebuild the tranny by yourself, but would probably be better taking it to someone so you know it is done correctly(not saying you don't know how).

EDIT: The float is called a nitrophyl float.

i'm not sure if it will fit but offenhauser makes an aluminum intake for the 300 inline six cylinder, it's a four barrel intake by the way

It won't. 200 and 250 are both small blocks. 300 and 240 are big blocks.

Thanks for the replies. I thought that the 250 intake was not a log after 1979?

It's be easier to get power by just swapping to a V8.

I could. But it wouldn't be as much fun... I have a stock 289 sitting in the garage, but would rather beef up the little 6. Too many people do the swap, I'd rather be different. Plus, we have a 65 'vert with a 302 that I can drive if I want to.

I didn't think they made 250s that far. There is something about the 250s that say in the later years it is the same as a 200 head or something along that line.

He is waiting for confirmation from ford six. But for some reason the forums over there keep screwing up the last 2 days.
