I was told that to get more torque i would need smaller gears.

Of those, which can go into my 68 c4 trans without messing anything else up. and is it possible to get that part alone and not change anything else.

Not into your trany but into the rearend. This will depend on what you plan on doing with the car. You racing, weekend cruses or daily driver? On a DD you'll wanna go with 3.25 or 3.55 at most. If your racing then 3.80 or better.

We went with 3.25 in our Currie rear as a daily driver.

Its a daily driver at the moment, but in a month or so im going to try to find a piece of crap for a few hundred and take it off the road as a cruiser, but i want some power incase i decided to take it to the track which i do plan to do. So i want the most of it, but i dont need racing gears i guess, just street performance.

3.55 gears then. 3.25 are still nice but will be better on gas. The stock gears were likely 2.79s.

3.25:1 is a pretty good gear for you without an overdrive. With it, 3:50:1 is a better choice. Any lower than that and you definitely will be sacrificing the highway drive.

Well after a few weeks i wont be taking it on roadtrips or anywhere far, just down to the beach. Which is about 20 minutes away.

While you're at it you might want to look into either Posi Traction or Trac Loc for your rearend. It'll help you out when you're at the track.
