Default mustang lover needs advice

ok so here goes.all my life i have wanted a classic mustang, its my dreamcar.well my brother in law owned one and passed away 5years ago.so the car set up and got passed down to his son when he turned sixteen.well his son, which is an idiot, never touched it and just let it set and finally sold it to my dad.my dad in turn did some motor work and such on it but is up in years and said he just didnt have the time or patience to really give it the attention that it needed.thats where i come in.i got it for $4500.it has set up im told that it has alot of rust even on the chassis,it needs new brakes/lines,and some hoses and stuff that have withered with age.the body and paint are in excellent condition, motor is excellent, and the interior needs some touch ups but not much.so my question is...is it worth it?but is it gonna be worth the trouble?plz any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Use: www.nada.com
It will tell you what it actually should be worth but be honest with yourself. Most people think its worth than it actually worth. Get the vin number and if it's an "A" or "K" code, type that in too. Good luck!

Get a shop that specializes in Mustangs to evaluate it. The local Mustang club can tell you who'd be best in your area.

Repairing rust can get expensive real fast.

Yeah rust gets pricey fast to fix and if the frame rails are rusted out or the cowl vent i would walk away from it.My 68 only rust i found was in a wheel well had a bent valance and needed a carb i paid 3 grand for it 2 years ago.Its best to pay more for a rust free car then dump money in a car with rust.

If this is a coupe, $4,500 is way over priced for a rust bucket and I would pass unless it is too late. I've seen fastbacks and convertibles that need significant rust repair going for that much. Post some pictures and we can give you a better idea of what you are up against.
