I think 1" will be on the stiff side, especially considering your stiff springs. I run a 15/16" on my car with 540lb springs, and while it's probably a hair small for my setup, I drive very hard on occasion. Otherwise, 15/16" would be fine for me. For an occasional cruiser, a 1" or larger sway bar with 620lb springs may create considerable understeer and/or poor ride quality in the front end.

hit it with some rust buster or pb blaster or some kind of light oil and let it sit for an hour or two. reattach the LCA at the frame and tie rod. get an impact wrench and a long extension and go to town on it. or use a breaker bar. it'll take a LOT of torque to get it off though.

i'm still not completely sold on the 620 springs yet anyway, so if i ordered a lighter set, say the 540 or 580s whichever it is from opentracker and then match it with the GR2's and the 1" sway bar, would that be better?

My strut rod came right out. It just took a big socket and a long handle ratchet. If you can't get the socket in there, lift up on the other end of it and it will make room. You may need some Aerocroil or WD40 to loosen it up.

Well, how much are you driving this car? And how good are the roads you drive it on?

I'm pretty happy with 540's on my daily driver. They allow acceptable ride quality (still firm, sometimes jarring on bumpy roads) while providing good handling. Body roll can be compensated for by a larger sway bar.

I'm not a fan of GR2's. They'll help soften the ride with a 620lb spring, but they're not great for handling. I have Edelbrock IAS shocks and I'm very happy with them. Great handling, great ride. KYB Gas-A-Justs are another option, although they're much stiffer. My old Gas-A-Justs were stiff even on my old, worn suspension.

I had to use a pry bar to remove my strut rod bushings to be able to pull the strut rod out.

Im running 620s with a 1" bar. she handles like a raped ape with a poor alignment.

Yor on the right track talking to John at OTR. he has tons of experience in this stuff and would listen to him anyday.

roller perches are the BEST single mod you can do to the front end for a multipurpose vehicle... IE street/strip/track.

I disagree. The Shelby drop makes more of a difference in handling:P But yes, roller perches do make a big difference and should definitely be installed while everything's apart.

i only drive it on sunny weekend days, and i never drive it that hard. the roads i drive on are pretty decent as well. I have the template ordered to do the shelby drop, but im sort of leary about doing it and changing the ball joint geometry so much, someone please put me at ease here about the drop. I need a new sway bar, and i already have the 620's, i just dont want the car to jar my head off everytime i hit a bump. So i guess if it comes down to it, i'll ddrop the money for a new set of lighter springs if i have to. Also, not familiar with a raped ape, how does a raped ape handle? haha. Also, how do you replace the bushings in the idler arm? thanks guys.

I think the ride is relative to what you are used to riding in. If you ride in nothing but a Cadillac all of the time, any performance suspension will ride like crap. I have ridden in a ton of performance cars with different suspensions on all types of roads, and the 620 springs are good to me. Just all depends on what you are wanting out of it.
