its because they think your ruining it...as will many other people. its not original anymore.

honestly. how many pounds are you losing by taking the back seat out and replacing it with ply wood?

10 lbs?

I don't think many. I need some thinner wood to use for it.

My mom says I runined it. She tells me if it was hers it would still have hubcaps on it.

is there a reason your taking the back seat out? is it only because you want to shave some weight off?

personally i love having the back seat. i used to have a 97 coupe and i had a custom sub case that was the back seat of the car, i could never drive more then 1 passenger. i began to hate it

It is to shave weight. I've already taken out my spare tire and jack. I'll try and find some thinner wood to make the delete better.

I never carry more than 1 person because it will bottom out with the weight in the back. I think it is mainly because the springs are starting to wear out.

The seat will be back in by Wednesday, since the local car meet is that day. I'm pretty sure the delete won't be done probably until the middle of June.

back seats are still very important. for instance, how do you think ricky bobby would have been born if there was no back seat in that car?

Ahhh! This thread is making my head hurt! Listen to your dad, he probably knows what he's talking about. That rear seat delete sounds like an AWFUL idea. You're in High School, don't you have friends hounding you to drive them everywhere in your car? When I was in HS, my friends wouldn't leave me alone about it. Enjoy it for what it is.... It's a nice cruiser, not a race car. And as racin66coupe said, how do you expect to pull any tail in your car without a rear seat?

when i was a senior in high school (2007) 3 times a week the captain of the cheerleading squad would ask for a ride home cuz i had a 68 mustang....now she didnt sit in the back seat but it was there if she wanted to get comfy

but seriously, even if you dont hook up in the back seat it still needs to be there. dont chop up the car just cuz its a six banger. embrace the six banger...in your back seat

I haven't driven my coupe to school since before spring break. I actually have only driven it three times in the last month. I was in the school newspaper once and only my friends said anything to me about it.

My DD is beside the mustang in this picture. It is a 95 toyota 4runner SR5 with something like 225,000 miles. Dad bought it used back in 96.
