Default brake line puzzle

So I'm replacing the brake lines as I rebuild the drum brakes (not ready for discs... yet) and I've come upon a puzzle. Is there any way to get the piece that goes from the front passenger side across the firewall to to the distribution block in without cutting it or dropping the engine? It goes under the throttle rod, over the tranny, under the steering column and up to the dist. block.
I've thought about cutting it and flaring the ends to put on a coupling after it is in place. Or I guess I could just bend it to get it in place and then bend it back, but no. That makes me nervous.
Do I really need to replace this line? I'm doing all the others because I want the fittings to be good after I break them loose when I rebuild the drums. I'm a little worried about rust in the lines after sitting for so long. What would happen if I did not replace this piece? Would the rust cause problems (of course... right!)
I bought the whole kit, so I'd like to get it in, but how?

Hey bub, why would bending it twice make you nervous?????

I wouldn't worry unless you were to bend it several times in the same spot.
Why are you replacing your lines anway???? Are they rusted or are you just freshening them up?

(By the way, I just dropped my vert off at the shop a couple days ago)

can you take the throttle rod loose and move it, then fish it under the steering column and up to the distro block? from there it should lay on top of everything else.

EZ- good to hear you're getting that 67 going again.
I just don't want to kink the line. The rust does make me nervous, but yes I'm just freshening it up since everything else in the brakes will be new, MC on down (not the drums...yet) Should I be worried about the rust in the lines? I could just flush them I suppose.
So could I just bend it to make it fit? It would take some finesse but it could probably be done. I've not worked with tubing much, so I don't want to screw it up.

Thanks I do hope it goes well for the old girl!

If you dont want to remove the old line you could run some muratic acid through that section, let it sit for a little, then flush and blow them out. That will clean that booger nicely but if there are any holes it will let you know.

I think you can, personally I've done it once and it was a non issue. Just be really easy with it.
