The only thing I changed is that I added a washer between the spring and the cotter pin. It funtions well and is definitely worth the 12 bucks, although it is a little bit cheesy. I would buy it again.
During the "oil embargo" in 78, a lot of people started to get locking caps to prevent thieves siphoning. As locking caps became more common, the thieves simply punched holes in the gas tanks.
Yeah. I'm not really worried about fuel theft. Most of our tanks have drain plugs anyway. That can easily be replaced. I am more concerned about someone putting something in the tank.
Good choice. I've looked at that myself a few times and will likely order it sometime. Our car will be a daily driver, parked outdoors nightly and in my wife's office parking lot daily through the week. I know a number of people over the years who have had crap poured into their tanks by vandals and for 12 bucks I say great idea.
Mike.. What type of setup are you going with for your remote hood latch? This was something I've been thinking of but have been busy with other areas to give it much thought yet.
Yeah, I think im going to have to take a stock hood latch and use either a hood latch from a modern mustang or figure out someway to use a trottle cable of some sorts and mount a bracket inside. I haven't put too much thought into it yet but i know it going to be a must for my car. My dad (fakesnankes) and I just went up to Mustangs Unlimited and ordered two of those gas caps locks but they were on back order! I have to say that for those of you that live near M.U. They moved about 1/2 mile down the street to an even bigger location with a big showroom of parts it's really nice!
If I think of something or get a start on the hood latch idea i'll let you know and post some pics.
