Default Front Valance Removal

I have a question about the lower front valance on a '66 Coupe. Can it be removed without removing the bumper or the stone deflector? I just need to strip it and repaint and don't want to do anything out of order.
Thanks
Scott

Yes it can. You have to remove the bumperettes / bumper gaurds then you can drop it down. You may have to open up the head light bucket so you can disconnect the parking lights.

No problem. The wires for the parking lights do not come unplugged from the light itself and the wires run up behind the headlights.

To access the upper nut on the bumper gaurd you will need a long extension.

I just had my front valance off to install new parking light assemblies.

I remember you had made the risers for your rear speakers. Did you see my thread about the rear speaker grilles that I just changed out?

Valances can get pretty nasty on the inside. Here is how mine turned out. My turn signals were total rusted junk on the inside so I ended up replacing them with NOS.

Yeah, the factory assembled-

lower grille bar

front bumper with brackets

valence panel with lights already installed

bumper guards

Yep and I think I will go that route. It looks very clean.
I already cut a new package tray and painted it, ridding myself of the risers and now I will be ordering the grills you installed.

Woweee! I didn't go that far. I was good with just the repaint on the exterior. My housings aren't as bad as your before so I will hold off on the interior.
Yours looks better than the factory.
