Default Clutch Cable Troubles...

So I have a T-5 with a cable clutch that I installed 5 years back and I'm now getting an irregular feeling in the pedal. What does it feel like when your cable is going bad? Can you feel it for awhile or does it just snap suddenly one day?

I have a clutch cable setup as well and would like to know others experience with this. I have heard that they can stretch a little and need to be readjusted. I think they usually just snap when they give out though.
