Can I eliminate the solenoid?
I'm currently rewiring my engine compartment and trying to hide all of the wires. I'm trying to decide if I should relocate the solenoid or if I can eliminate it. I have one of the new high torque mini starters, but it does not have a provision for the "I" terminal. I do have an electronic MSD distributer and MSD-6AL box (I have not wired them yet).
Please provide me with your knowledge!!

Yes, you can. The wire on the S terminal needs to be relocated down to the small terminal on the starter solenoid, or you can run a new wire from the switch to the starter. The wire on the I terminal is not needed for your setup. Then run a cable from the battery to the big terminal on the starter motor.
Voila.

Thanks so...
- relocate wire on S terminal of solenoid to small terminal on starter solenoid
- provide 12V direct from the battery to big terminal on starter solenoid
- tape off the wire from the passenger side harness that used to go to the I terminal
Is the wire that used to feed the I terminal, 12volt ignition switched? Or is it only energized when the key is in the start position?
Thanks,
Tim
i never deleted the starter selonoid, so i have no idea.
But to a\nswer your 'I' terminal question: it's only carrying 12V when you have key in 'start' position. (when you have 12V at 'S'). In stock application it's connected to coil+ to feed 12V during cranking where when it's running it only gets 8V
