Default Back on the Road

I got home from my 15 month deployment last week and since the Mrs. and the little one were home I didnt really have time to get the car back on the road. Finally two days ago I started taking it off the stands late in the afternoon. Yesterday she started with just minor hiccups. The fuel pump went bad while she sat, so I replaced it, then I moved the dizzy while I had it out to prime the oil pump. So I had to pull a plug and reset it. Then she turned over and fired right up! I used a half a tank of gas just driving all over town. No place to go, but going anyway. Perma Grin was in place I am getting out of the army and was considering selling her, but now I dont think there is any way I am gonna let it go. Plus my two year old LOVES it.

Welcome back, and thanks for your service.

Glad to hear your car was so easy to start. I can't wait till I can cruise all afternoon in mine, but I'm still a ways away.

Good looking car too!

Welcome back. You were down in southern Africa or some similar place this time weren't you? Was that pirate territory?

Thanks to all. I was very happy that she was so easy to start. And then purely by accident I was turning a corner from a stop and roasted the tires, well, one of em anyway. Man I missed this car. My daughter just squealed and said "Make it go vroom daddy"! Made my day.

Yeah, I was in the Horn of Africa. I spent 9 months in Djibouti stationed about 20 miles from the Somali border, then I spent about 5 months in Uganda. Not to bad as far as deployments go. Never wore body armor, hardly ever carried a weapon, and we could drink beer. It was a nice change from my other deployments.

I'm glad your able to enjoy it again. Thats awesome that you didn't have to do too much to get it started up again.

I don't think I could ever sell mine. My dad and I built it together and it is so much fun to drive.
