Default Convenience System Park

What was the reason for the Park light on the 68 Convenience System? Page 2-E19 of the Wiring Manual shows it going to the Park/E-Brake. What doesn't make sense to me is that the dash gauge pack has the Brake Light which ties into the E-Brake already. Was the dash gauge light used for something else when the Convenience System was installed?

Thanks

The Convenience light is to let you know if you have left the park brake engaged. The brake light on the dash is to notify you that there is a failure of the brake system via the proportioning valve.

^exactly what I was going to say. I kind of want to get a brake light indicator for mine because I know when I get my parking brake working I will leave it engaged without realizing it however, the lights are damn expensive that I've seen

OK I looked up a PV in the NPD cat and see now. I've gone with an aftermarket PV / DB that doesnt allow for this. Has the Brake switch built in instead of the one under the dash on the brake arm. The convenience setup will display the Park/E-brake.

4reboy.. I just today added a small micro switch to our Lokar trany mounted e-brake (see link). Looks exactly like this but I had a few switches here already so just made up the small bracket that presses down the micro switch when handle is fully released. Something like this could easily be made to fit.
